AQA Website Accessibility Statement

Introduction

This statement is about the accessibility of our:

  • public website: aqa.org.uk
  • secure extranet for schools and colleges (e-AQA)
  • secure extranet for examiners and moderators (Examiner extranet).
  • in-house intranet

and our other web-based business applications.

Legislation and guidelines

We have a responsibility to make our websites accessible to all, as specified in the:

  • Disability Discrimination Act 1995 part 4 (as amended by the Special Education Needs Disability Act 2001)
  • Disability Discrimination Act 2005.

We follow Version 1 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (part of the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative: WAI) and aim to comply with the 14 checkpoints in these criteria at priority levels 1 and 2, widely known as the 'AA standard'.

We are reviewing Version 2 of the Guidelines, with a view to moving towards complying with them.

Statement

We are responsible for making our websites meet the needs of everyone, including people with disabilities, by ensuring that our information is accessible no matter who the user is or how they view the page.

Our websites are built to interface with the browsers that most of our visitors use and our information is designed, built and presented to meet the 'open' standards recommended by the WAI.

How you can help us to develop and improve our website accessibility

There is much to learn about applying good website accessibility practices and we won't always get it right first time. We are committed to ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively.

If you experience any accessibility difficulties, please contact the Web Team (Tel: 01483 556 042).
