How to apply for past exam results

Please send all requests for records to AQA, Devas Street, Manchester M15 6EX.

  • In all instances, please complete the form below which contains answers to many frequently asked questions.
  • If you do not know which exam board you took your exams with, read some helpful tips.
  • For security and data protection purposes, we cannot provide results directly over the telephone.
  • Applications take 28 working days to process.
  • Refer to the application checklist to avoid possible delays.

Does AQA hold your records?

We can only confirm results taken with:

  • AQA Assessment and Qualification Alliance *
  • JMB Joint Matriculation Board *
  • NEAB Northern Examinations and Assessment Board *
  • NEA Northern Examining Association*
  • AEB Associated Examining Board +
  • SEG Southern Examining Group+

Costs

  • Replacement certificates and Statements of Results cost £35.90 for each exam session, level and exam board.
  • Confirmation of results cost £17.95 for each exam session, level, exam board and addressee.

A free confirmation letter is available for those needing their exam results verified before original certificates are issued to schools/colleges

Replacement certificates

We can issue replacement certificates:

  • if the originals have been destroyed by:
    • fire
    • flood
    • theft

    Please include documentary evidence eg an insurance claim letter or fire/police report with your application.

  • if the original has been damaged or defaced.

    Please return your original certificate with the application

We cannot issue certificates where originals:

  • have been lost
  • have not been collected from school or college.

If you have lost or not claimed your certificate, you can get a Statement of Results. This official document is universally acknowledged as proof of exam results.

Confirmation of results to a third party

A confirmation of results document can only be sent to:

  • public or professional bodies
  • service authorities
  • universities/colleges
  • prospective employers.

Applicants receive an acknowledgement card, confirming the date the document was sent to the third party.

Employment agencies must have a signed statement from the prospective employee to allow us to issue results directly to them.

Applications are dealt with in date order and take up to 28 days to process.

Replacement certificates for Access to Higher Education courses

Certification and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)

There is now reference to UK qualifications frameworks to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). This means that qualifications falling within UK frameworks now have a corresponding EQF level.
