AQA's response to Daily Telegraph allegations
08 Dec 2011
There have been reports in the news today that some exam boards have been running training courses that give teachers - and their students - an unfair
advantage. There have also been concerns that some boards were making a lot of money out of running this type of course.
Andrew Hall, AQA's Chief Executive, said:
We monitor the quality and content of our courses and our focus is on how students performed in past exams. We don't support 'teaching to the test' as we
don't think this is in the best interest of students, so in light of the media coverage, we will be speaking to all staff and examiners who are involved in our
courses. Once we have reviewed this, we will decide what action may be appropriate.
AQA is an educational charity and the charges we make for these events cover our costs – we do not make a profit from our courses. All of our course
materials are freely available to all teachers via our website, which also provides question papers, mark schemes and examiners' reports.
