Benefit from on-screen testing
Our generation are more into computers...

We offer on-screen testing for students doing GCSE Science (Spec A), as well as for the objective tests for GCSE Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
In addition, AQA and City & Guilds will be running an on-screen test for level 1 unit 4 (CB1U4S) of the Construction and the Built Environment Diploma in May 2010. In February and March 2010 there is also an AQA on-screen pilot underway for the new Functional Skills ICT assessment. Both of these assessments will involve the use of test software from our new technology partner, BTL.
If your centre would like to take part in the CBE Diploma on-screen test in May 2010, then please contact us.
On-screen Testing offers students of all levels of ability:
- a user-friendly test environment
- the opportunity to use a computer which some students prefer to completing the paper answer sheet. This can motivate students of lower abilities
- easy to use features like drag and drop, familiar to people who use computers
- features like the personal clock and the on-screen 'mark question for review' feature which help students feel confident completing the test.
Benefits to you are:
- it's free – the software set up and updates are provided free of charge as part of our support service; you just pay the normal entry fees
- easy to use – practice tests are available so teachers and students can get comfortable with the format of the on-screen tests
- secure – your IT technician can download the test and set up the individual workstations, ready for the students to begin. The completed tests are then sent by secure transmission for processing. The whole process is clear, secure and rapid.
The students were confident with the software. They really appreciated the drag and drop which allowed them to really access the questions (IT Manager)
It does help with the C/D borderline students as they tend to work better on computers (Head of Science)

- To make entries for an on-screen test, make your estimated entries and entries as usual, using the appropriate entry codes for the on-screen tests. We will then get in touch to go through the technical requirements.
