Introduction to examining and moderating
AQA is the largest awarding body in England. We are an independent registered charity, with no shareholders, so all our income is used to run our exams and carry out research and development to improve our qualifications and services.
Candidates are at the heart of our operations. We want to ensure
that their attainments are supported by the best assessment practices and that their grades are a reliable statement of their achievements.
As a forward-looking organisation, we strive continuously to improve our products and services.
It may come as no surprise then that we:
- are the principal provider of GCSE and A-level examinations
- have 42% of the total national A-level entry and 49% of the total national GCSE entry
- continue to achieve high ratings in the Key Performance Indicators. In 2009 we scored 100% in five of the targets and over 98% in the remaining three.
