Examining and moderating: what's in it for me?

Many teachers think that examining is not for them. Yet nearly nine out of ten current examiners and moderators say they would recommend it to colleagues and plan to do it again.

Examining is challenging and rewarding and my experience has been a very happy one. It's done me a lot of good personally and professionally.

Being an examiner or moderator enables you to:

  • gain valuable insight into the assessment process
  • enhance your own teaching
  • network with like-minded professionals
  • boost your career
  • earn extra income.

I tell colleagues that examining is the best form of INSET/professional development they can have.
