Policy on attending standardisation meetings
Annual standardisation for teachers, either through the attendance of face-to-face meetings or by accessing the Teacher Online Standardisation System, is available in the autumn term. The method of standardisation will depend upon the specification that you are teaching.
Centres are notified which method is relevant to their specification and whether or not their participation in the process is mandatory. See if the specification you are offering is part of the Teacher Online Standardisation.
There is no charge for either the face-to-face meetings or for using the Teacher Online Standardisation.
Participation in the standardisation process is mandatory if:
- you are teaching this specification/entering candidates for the first time - please contact us to ensure you are invited,
- there has been a serious misinterpretation of the specification requirements,
- the nature of the coursework tasks set by a centre has been inappropriate, or
- a significant adjustment has been made to a centre's marks in the previous year's examination
- you are a centre that offers the following specifications:
- GCSE Drama
- GCSE English
- GCSE English Literature
- GCSE Expressive Arts
- GCSE ICT - Unit 2.
Voluntary participation: Other reasons why you might want to participate in the standardisation process are, for example, if there has been a change of teacher or a need for continuing professional development. Because of the nature of Teacher Online Standardisation, we would recommend that all teachers delivering the specification should, where possible, take advantage of the system.
