Overview of the AQA Baccalaureate

How the Bacc works

Many post-16 students and schools/colleges are caught in a conundrum – how to demonstrate that students possess the suite of qualifications, skills and qualities that will differentiate them from others when applying for university and employment.

The AQA Bacc allows your students to achieve the above. It is innovative, flexible, interactive and available to you!

Why the AQA Bacc is good for you

We have developed a qualification that is available to any student studying at least three A-levels. It is a complete curriculum programme, adding value to your students' core A-level subjects through broader study, the Extended Project Qualification and enrichment activities. The AQA Bacc also:

  • largely consists of subjects you already offer, so it is straightforward to introduce
  • can be tailored to fit with your curriculum
  • allows you to capture the educational benefits to your students via extra-curricular activities
  • celebrates qualities such as community spirit, perseverance, team-working and communication
  • transfers responsibility for part of the programme to your students to foster self-reliance, initiative and motivation
  • is already valued by universities and employers.

Why the AQA Bacc is good for your students

Your students are free to study their chosen A-level subjects, while creating their own sixth-form programme. They will also:

  • have an exciting study framework that motivates them to explore new challenges and prepares them for adulthood and higher education
  • gain formal recognition for activities they already enjoy
  • be able to talk confidently at interviews about the skills and experience they acquired through and beyond academic study
  • have a portable enrichment activities record of which they can be proud.
