Functional ICT

New to Functional ICT

Engaging, useful and interactive is what ICT Functional Skills is all about. As a nationally recognised qualification, Functional ICT has been introduced to ensure that students have the practical skills in applying what they learnt to everyday situations.

Why teach our Functional ICT?

Engaging content – We've made sure our content is interactive and motivating to provide your students with the skill set to use ICT for life, learning and work.

Innovation – To ensure your students are engaged in Functional ICT, we have developed new interactive tools and activities. One exciting new development is the introduction of a realistic simulated internet and e-mail activity for assessment.

Flexibility of Functional ICT qualification

  • You can teach elements of Functional ICT with another qualification, which will save valuable curriculum time, and provide your student with the opportunity to achieve an extra qualification.
  • From your feedback, we have made the course suitable to deliver to Year 9 students, giving them a good starting base for GCSE ICT.

Assessment Summary

  • The qualification is made up of one exam that can be sat anytime during the 5 day assessment window.
  • Students will use both a Candidate Booklet and a computer to complete a series of activities during the exam.
  • The mark is either a pass or fail with students being able to re-sit as many times as they like.

Functional ICT available four times each academic year so your students can sit the exam when they are ready.
