AQA Certificates in English

The AQA Certificates in English (iGCSE)

Our AQA Level 1/2 Certificates in English Language and English Literature (iGCSE) are now accredited.

These qualifications receive DfE funding through Section 96. At the moment these qualifications will not count towards your school performance table points in the 2011/12 academic year but we hope that following the current consultation on performance tables they will be accepted for 2012/13.

Designed specifically for the UK market, our specifications have been developed to:

  • allow you more choice and flexibility to structure a course that best suits the interests and needs of your students
  • encourage and reward independent thinking and develop the skills of critical analysis and evaluation when looking at communication in a variety of forms and literary texts
  • give better preparation for further study with a focus on reading, study and research skills as well as personal response
  • give you the opportunity to study fewer texts but in more depth
  • provide a coursework option without the restrictions of Controlled Assessment
  • no Controlled Assessment which gives you more time for teaching.
