The AQA Level 1/2 Certificate in Geography (iGCSE) is now accredited.
At present, as a new specification, this will not be included in the headline performance table measure and is not eligible for inclusion in the English Baccalaureate. However, this will be reviewed once a proven track record has been established. It is eligible to receive DfE funding through Section 96.
Our specification has been developed to:
- provide a firm foundation for progression to A-level
- offer an alternative to controlled assessment
- enable teaching alongside ELC Geography and GCSE Geography
- allow you flexibility to structure a course that best suits the interests and needs of your students
- allows a focus on the geographical processes that shape our world through a study of physical and human geography
The specification will cover the full grade range (A*–G)
Topics include:
- Tectonic Activity and Hazards
- Ecosystems and Global Environments
- River Processes and Pressures
- Coastal Processes and Pressures
- Contemporary Population Issues
- Contemporary Issues in Urban Settlements
- Globalisation in the Contemporary World
- Contemporary Issues in Tourism
