The AQA Level 1/2 Certificate in History (iGCSE) is now accredited.
At present, as a new specification, this will not be included in headline performance table measures and is not eligible for inclusion in the English Baccalaureate. However, this will be reviewed once a proven track record has been established. It is eligible to receive DfE funding through Section 96.
Our specification has been developed to:
- provide a firm foundation for progression to A-level
- offer an alternative to controlled assessment
- provide pre-released materials to support teaching and assessment
- enable teaching alongside the GCSE History specification B
- allow you flexibility to structure a course that best suits the interests and needs of your students
- give students the opportunity to study a breadth of relevant European and World History topics
The specification will cover the full grade range (A*–G)
Content includes:
- 20th century depth studies, including traditional (Germany, Russia/USSR, USA) and popular (Vietnam/ Middle East/ American Race Relations) alternatives
- brand new depth studies on Indian Independence, Mussolini's Italy, and the Changing Nature of Warfare
- an outline study of International Relations 1905-55 or 1945-2011
- a brand new outline topic on post-Cold War relations 1991-2011, includes the two Gulf wars and 9/11
