AQA Certificates in Further Mathematics

AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics

We have now been accredited for our specification in AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics.

These qualifications receive DfE Section 96 approval and funding for pre and post 16 students. This means that all centres can now offer this course.

This qualification will count towards your school performance table points from June 2012. It can also count towards the 5 A*-C measure, but not as the maths within this measure. Following a review in 2013, we hope that it will also be accepted into the new 2014 performance tables.

This exciting new qualification offers the stretch and challenge that our best and brightest young mathematicians need.

Our specification has been developed to:

  • motivate and challenge students who are likely to achieve A or A* at GCSE by:
    • encouraging greater depth and breadth
    • including algebra and geometry
    • introducing calculus and matrices
  • award achievement at A* to C, with an additional Distinction grade (A* with Distinction), for students who achieve at a level beyond A*
  • give you maximum flexibility in how you deliver the course: ie alongside, instead of, or following early entry in GCSE Mathematics
  • provide excellent preparation for AS and A-level by:
    • introducing students to AS topics, without infringing upon the AS level
    • assessing higher order mathematical skills.
