Controlled Assessment


Controlled Assessment is internal assessment with three stages:

  1. task setting
  2. task taking
  3. task marking.

At each stage control levels have been set at low, medium or high to ensure reliability and authenticity of students' work.

Controlled Assessment applies to:

  • GCSE subjects that have an internal assessment component
  • Principal Learning Units within Diplomas.

Controlled Assessment does not currently apply to:

  • GCSE Maths
  • A-level subjects
